Shocked Skulk Sensors
I think the idea of skulk sensors are pretty cool, and I love the possibility of wireless Redstone. However, I believe the Skulk sensor could have so much more potential.
Currently, there are no ways to detect sounds in Minecraft. The skulk sensor would change that. However, the skulk sensor wouldn't be able to tell the difference between say, a player walking, and a pig oinking.
I think it would be a cool mechanic if skulk sensors could be in a way 'programmable', allowing the skulk sensors to tell the difference between different sounds, and only output a Redstone signal if the sound matches what it has been taught.
Introducing shocked skulk sensors!
This would be a new mechanic to 'teach' a skulk sensor what sounds should it respond to. The way you obtain shocked skulk sensors by striking lightning on, or near it. You should be able to tell the skulk sensor has been shocked by a visual (example: the skulk sensor would appear neon). The skulk sensor should only remain shocked for a short period of time, say 5 seconds, so you better act quickly.
During this time, you can basically program the skulk sensor. What you would do is just make any sound(s), and the skulk sensor would store that sound.
Once the skulk sensor becomes unshocked, it would remember that sound and would only output a Redstone signal when it hears that specific sound.
This would turn the skulk sensor into a game-changing feature and would give more propose to lightning.
