I got this idea when I placed cauldrons around a village and villagers started swarming them. Turns out that a cauldron is a job site block and I had to remove them all :( . I had placed cauldrons by their farms to collect rainwater and in their pens to look like watering troughs for their animals.
Like large chests, large cauldrons are made when you place two cauldrons side by side. You could still have two cauldrons side by side without connecting if you want, just like how you can still have two chests side by side but separate.
Large cauldrons, for the most part, behave like normal cauldrons. You can fill it with water and dye it, or you can fill it with lava or potions. They will even fill up in the rain, as you'd expect. But large cauldrons are not normal cauldrons in some important ways:
It is not a jobsite block so you can have them in villages without interfering with their jobs.
A large cauldron is a watering trough for horses/mules/donkeys. They will walk up to large cauldrons and deplete it by 1 level. I would like to be able to take my horse to a watering trough after a long ride for a drink. They will even drink potions from it, so if you aren't mindful, they might accidentally poison themselves. If you don't have a splash potion you can put it in a large cauldron, but you can't force them to drink.
Large cauldrons can hold twice as much as a normal cauldron. You can break a large cauldron with something inside it and be left with half of it (rounded down).
