My idea is that protection IV should be a better all-around protective armor. Right now, it protects you from all sources equally. But individual protection types (like Fire and Projectile) individually protect better at those damage sources than protection does. So I propose that the 3 unique protection types all stay the exact same, but the general 'protection' enchant gets buffed (and significantly increased in rarity). In gameplay, it would function as follows: If you manage to find/enchant a piece of armor with Protection IV, it would be the same thing as a piece of armor with all 3 protections types at level IV (which is impossible in Minecraft currently without commands or mods). And again, the protection enchantment would be made to be very rare. Maybe along the lines of 1/100 odds to find it in an enchanting table, and mostly accessible from villagers and loot.
