This just makes sense. Why wouldn't this make sense?

It depends, if it's grounded to should work like Faraday cage (Google it).

If it was real life, there's high chance that lightning would hit you before going through, because lightning travels through shortest, and easiest road to the ground (it's easier for lightning to travel through human body, than air).

The same should happen with water.

I generally agree, with one caveat: Only damage dealt to entities (This includes the conversion effects of creepers and mooshrooms!) should spread, not fires. Otherwise, building with copper and wood together would become nearly impossible.

This should be a thing. If mobs or player is sitting on the copper the damage travels to them.

Alternative. Have it spread through lightning rods specifically. Some builds use a variety of copper blocks, and if lightning spread through them, they would all lose their oxidization. And for builders, that's just heartbreaking.

Having it only spread through rods makes it more controllable for redstone too. Imagine a villager based witch farm with a line of rods connecting layers.
