Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Block of grates

I propose to add a Block of Grates, which is made of four grates and four chains. Block of Grates is transparent in several places, can only be lifted with a pickaxe, and most importantly, it only lets water pass through it, which treats it like air (similar to the water-rushing system shown at Minecon 2017). Mobs, items, players and sand treat it like a regular block and linger on it and the water continues to spill inside the block without creating a spring, although this can also be done with it by pouring a bucket of water inside the block.
