Coal ore rarely generates as diamond ore

    I think this would be a bit overpowered as people would create mods that would take advantage of this. It is a great idea, though!

    Or better yet a coal ore could have a small chance of dropping one diamond

    I think this is too overpowered, and here's why.

    Coal ore generates in MASSIVE veins deep underground, nearing 30 ores/vein sometimes. 3/200 (1.5%) x 30 = 9/20, which is almost 50%. That means that a diamond ore will try to replace coal ore around 50% of the time in every single ore vein. Assuming there's around 5-10 coal ore veins per chunk, that means that there will be an additional 3-5 diamond ore blocks in every single chunk. The replace percentage needs to be much lower, probably around 0.1 or 0.15% of the time, keeping this a fun surprise.
