There has been a lot of discussion lately about how Sculk Sensors should be implemented into the game, and I believe I have a solution that would allow us to not stray too far from current redstone functionality while also providing extra features in different areas of the game.
In their natural form, Sculk growths should not emit a redstone signal. Instead, when broken they should drop 1-3 Sculk Bulbs, which when crafted together in a grid like so:
S S S
Q O Q
C R C
Where S = Sculk Bulb, Q = Quartz, O = Observer, C = Cobblestone, and R = Redstone
Yields a sculk sensor, a block which has a similar size and shape to a redstone repeater, but with a Sculk Bulb on 3 or 4 of the block's edges. Each bulb can be toggled on/off manually depending on which side the block is interacted with from, limiting which directions the sensor can receive sound from.
Additionally, Sculk Bulbs could potentially be used to brew potions of blindness, or eaten directly to blind, poison, and nauseate for a short period of time.
