Cost of copper stairs, slabs, etc

In order to create copper stairs, you need 6 cut copper blocks, or 54 copper ingots. Just for 4 copper stairs. Along with other items, this makes materials like this extremely expensive, and with no way of renewable copper or the ability to use the fortune enchantment, making any structure out of copper, a brand new ore that obviously is one of the key features of caves and cliffs, is just too hard to obtain, despite being shown used in large builds. Hopefully the new "ore vein generation" provide a way to get large amounts of copper without having to mine thousands of blocks, but if not, the Caves and Cliffs update needs some way to get large amounts of copper without 1)Being too hard to find, of a typical rarity, and 2) without making it so common that finding it will get tedious.

    It’s strange that copper would have stair and slab variants unlike any other ore in the game, one way to balance this would be to add a metalwork station or an ability to modify the stonecutter (diamond toothed stonecutter?).
    Function is obvious, and would be best complimented by the addition of gold and iron stairs/slabs/cut blocks
    Would be greatly appreciated!!

    Yeah I’ve been trying to build a decent sized building for a few weeks now with a copper roof and it’s extremely hard to find enough copper to finish it

    I have been trying to make a copper roof for days. I managed to mine like over 100 stacks of copper ore and it still wasn't enough. Like come on, that's just insanity. Somebody fix this pleasssssss.
