Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Copper Armor and Tools

There should be copper armor and tools in the game. its a new metal, so why not? Copper gets stronger when oxidized, so why shouldn't armor? Over time when copper armor and tools oxidize they will gain durability going from around gold level up to almost (but still less than) diamond.

    honestly an argument against copper armor and tools is that "we don't need a new tier of equipment". And while I cant disagree, I dont really care. just make it the same tier as iron, but let it weather. If you prefer updates that are creativity centred having an armor that ages and nothing else is still a good idea

    I think copper tools like copper swords and axes and copper armor should be added to the game.

    Ye kinda stupid of them to not add copper tools and armor. I would prefer if they made iron more rare becouse it's honestly an A tier material and you can get it too easily so copper should replace iron in tearms of OPnes and rarity

    If you go based on how metal came about in our history, gold was used first (if I'm not mistaken) but they believe copper was found and used for tools first. It was found as float ore (found in the dirt so dug up not just mined). It was the metal that was cold forged. Iron came after then steel. Wrought iron contains 0.2% carbon, cast iron 2%, and steel only 0.8% but was not easily done. Making copper tools and easier to get but is stronger than gold and stone but weaker than iron would be perfect and historically accurate. It could also have an almost as good as gold enchantment set to off-set the durability. I want to use enchanted gold but it's too weak. Something slightly stronger would be what I would get for enchanted items. I love it.

    This could also become a precursor for a Forging update since copper is cold forged while iron is not.

    I was just about to post this and was going to say..... With this copper armor in the game, the armor from least to greatest would be leather, chain, copper, iron, gold, diamond, netherite.

    I think the idea that copper armor would approach diamond would be too OP and will get the idea rejected outright. Here's my idea: copper functions as a new lower tier between stone and iron. You would need a copper pick to mine iron, but iron is still better, for example.

    I base this on playing the update and seeing how common copper is to obtain compared to iron. Making it too OP would break the game. However, copper armor and tools would probably still be useful later into the game because it is so plentiful. Copper armor would also be a useful armor for those attempting to save up iron for other projects like railways, super smelters, golems, anvils, and what have you.

    I think that copper armor should be close to gold in protection but more durable, as gold already has use in the nether. Copper tools would be between stone and iron, but in a similar way to wood and gold tools: copper tools share similar stats to stone but are far more durable, and require less XP to repair than iron. I dare suggest that copper be more durable but less powerful than iron, because copper doesn't rust and dents rather than cracking. Perhaps the armor and tools can oxidize and be waxed like copper blocks, but purely as a cosmetic effect. If they can't be, though, then it's no great loss. 

    And that's it. No lightning protection, no OP values, just a low to mid tier but very plentiful armor and weapons resource with a little quirk. We need this, copper is too plentiful and has too few uses.

    Also, as an addendum to my previous post.

    Copper and it's alloy bronze are more durable than iron over time because they don't rust. Copper and bronze tools can still be found today in about the same condition as they were forged in, with a little green patina on them that can be wiped off and it's good as new. Iron rusts badly over time and will erode away in no time. Iron is still leagues stronger, but copper based things are easier to repair thanks to their malleability. Iron repairs require a smith. Copper and bronze can be bent back with your hands and some muscle. It dents more than iron does, so it tends not to break but just be warped out of shape until repaired.

    Because of copper's longevity, and because they were used by some of the most ancient empires known to man, I want to suggest they can spawn in temples and dungeons in the chests. If they can be oxidized, they should be at max oxidation in world spawns as they've probably been there a good while.

    Historically speaking, copper and bronze weapons were buried as grave goods back then. I think these would be especially cool if a new temple type was added called a burial mound, which would be found in snowy biomes, as mounds were used by many peoples, mainly steppe raiders and nomads. But I'm getting ahead of myself I suppose, please add copper tools. My last point is that copper and bronze just fascinate me and I'd love to use them as armor and tools in game.

    These new items should be like leather and gold. Gold is verry simalar to leather and wood, just more efficient and durable. Copper items should be simalar to stone, but more efficient and durable.

    I think Copper should be in between Stone and Iron in the progression. I'm not sure if armor is necessary but if they added it, I'd think it should start off worse than Leather, but slowly become slightly stronger than it after it oxidizes.
