A Sticky Stick, make things sticky

So I had recently watched Mumbo Jumbo's video about chains sticking together and work like a chain would and I had an idea. There could be an item that if you used it on two different blocks they would stick together, kind of like the weld gun from Garry's Mod. You'd craft it like a shovel except a slime ball at the top and it would have around 500 uses before it breaks. I feel like this would be really useful for making redstone contraptions without making it look ugly with sticky pistons or slime/honey blocks.
