Pots have been announced for the 1.17 update. Please think about giving them some user functionality beyond pure aesthetics.
For example, allow them to be large containers for liquids. As of now, water, lava, milk and potions can only be stored in a one unit sized container that takes up one inventory slot. What if the pots could hold multiple units of one type of liquid? For example: several blocks of water or multiple bottles of the same potion.
Their could even be a type of tiered system (similar to leveled enhancements) that would affect how much it might hold. For example, the shard could be integral to this. Without any shards the pot could only hold one block of water, milk, or lava (or three potions). Over 50% shards it could hold two blocks and at 90% or more shards it could hold three blocks (or 9 potions).
As for accessing the content of the pot, it could work similar to a shulker box. When placed on a block, a player could right click on the pot to see it's contents. If the user right clicked with an empty buckets or bottles (or another empty pot), then the contents would be dipped out of that pot into the empty container. Finally, just like a shulker box, the pot could not be used directly inside the player's inventory. As for removing the filled pot from a block, it would have fit into game mechanic that it been consider now with the pot (maybe can be removed with any kind of pick?)
Hey, thanks again for sparking our imagination with this new update!
