Shields should be able to receive the "Thorns" enchantment

The enchantments "Unbreaking" and "Mending" can be added to shields through an anvil, and I think that "Thorns" should be able to join that list. This would make it so that mobs or players who hit the shield would take damage, just like they would if they hit a player or mob with Thorns armor.

    That would make fighting obsolete maby they add a shield bash enchantment and thorns makes it do more damage but the shield can no longer block arrows

    That is not a good idea. Thorns inflict damage on whoever attacks the used with melee. The only way to damage someone with thorns armor without taking damage is to use a ranged weapon like a bow/crossbow. The shield completely nullifies the damage from ranged weapons. Normally the other player would go in with a sword to get rid of the shield so that they can use there ranged weapons again, but with a thorns shield, arrows would be useless, and the other player would have no other choies but to take some damage by hitting the thorns shield with a sword. So I think a thorns sheild would be too overpowerd in combat. A full set of armor enchanted with thorns is probobly enough
