After seeing the 1.17 update at Minecraft Live this year, I've become extremely hyped for its release, while also brainstorming little ideas that could potentially be added. We're getting skulk sensors as part of redstone, but what if we had something more.
Copper plays a huge part in real life electronics, so why not give redstoners another new wiring method?
Introducing, the copper pipe, or copper wire. It could be crafted with 6 copper ingots, and 3 redstone dust, with an output of 6 pipes.
Copper pipe would behave near identically to redstone dust, same power limitations and all, but would be able to be placed lining walls, or simply suspended in the air.
Copper pipe would also require support blocks every so often, similar to scaffolding, lest the pipe breaks down and has to be replaced, preventing players from having massive wire relays that are just in the air. 12 block limit, perhaps?
Not only would this be a nice little toy for redstoners, but it could also add a level of decoration for Minecraft. Personally, I love steampunk designs, but out of what we have in Minecraft, it's near impossible to make a steampunk design that actually looks good. Copper pipes would be that final decorative piece needed to flesh out any design that calls for them.
It would also give proper incentive for players to actually mine for copper, as right now, all we seem to have is lightning rods, telescopes, and blocks to build with. An actual functional use for copper would be absolutely amazing.
