Ginger Roots would be a new crop type that can be found in dungeon chests rarely. When planted, the crop will grow until it flowers, which is the indicator to when the crop can be harvested. When the crop is harvested, the main root will remain planted but the top half of the plant will be picked. When the crop is harvested, the player will receive Ginger, which is different from ginger roots. This means that the player cannot just keep multiplying their ginger crops as they need the roots to plant it, making the crop quite valuable.
Ginger can be used to craft Gingerbread, which is crafted with Ginger, Honeycomb and Wheat. Gingerbread restores (2) hunger much like cookies, however the food can be eaten quite quickly, much like dried kelp. The recipe yields 8 gingerbread.
Ginger can also be brewed into a Water Bottle to create Ginger Ale, a new food (like honey bottles) that can be drank to restore (6) Hunger.
I think ginger should be in Minecraft because it incorporates honeycomb in the gingerbread recipe, giving that item another use. It also would be the first crop that replenishes after each harvest, making the crop quite valuable and useful when it comes to farms and produce. I think Minecraft in general should have more spices to find and use in our food recipes.
