Add Black Rhinos to the game to raise awareness.

The black rhinoceros is a "critically endangered" species according to the IUCN. There are believed to be only 5,000 of them remaining in the wild.

So, adding them to the game, and having Mojang/Microsoft encourage its players to donate to the WWF, or sending them a portion of each profit from people buying the game, would almost certainly make a noticeable diference, and a good one.

They're cool animals, but extremely hostile and aggressive, so in-game that could be reflected pretty well. In-game they would live in the savanna biome. They run at you, and make you lose 4 hearts when it hits you. It only runs towards you if you are within 10 blocks, and has a 1% chance of being friendly and tameable. A tame rhino will protect you against the hostile ones.

    Yes!! this is a great idea! Minecraft did this for bees and axolots, why not rhinos? there are only 5,000 rhinos left in the wild!! Please add these, they are my favorite animal! Besides the platypus, maybe you could add those too? Just a thought, :D.

    I think this is a great idea because 1 rhinos would be an awesome animal to see. 2 it would raise awareness for sure. And 3 if Minecraft can do it for bees, axolots, and polar bears why not a rhino

    They should the white rhino as well since both rhinos are endangered and their could be both kinds

    I am all for this idea but the only thing I think you should consider is what purpose would this animal bring to the game beside raising awareness to its species like what would it drop and things like that

    I like this idea, Minecraft tends to choose more unexpected choices so a rhino that's black would fit in nicely- yes I know that black rhinos aren't actually black, but I Minecraft would make them black as it would confuse most players if the "black rhino" was grey. And it would help players remember this particular type of rhino, which is the goal. Also its cooler.

    An important thing to remember is that Mojang doesn't add mobs willy nilly. Each mob is well thought through so that when it is added it integrates into the world nicely. At least that's how things are done now.

    Every mob needs some sort of purpose, for clearness we will confine ourselves to passive real animal mobs. Armadillos were not just added because they're fun, they brought wolf armor. Axolotls give admittedly no reward that's important, but they seem too me like a reward in and of themselves because they are a rare find, and than there's the whole blue axolotl chance with is fun.

    The rhino needs to give a reward, but we don't want to encourage players to kill these mobs, as that defeats the purpose. One option would be to have it dig up something using its horn (touting a little known rhino feature, and teaching people that rhinos horse aren't simply for fights).

    However a rhino can't simply be hostile in Minecraft. All Minecraft hostile mobs must be fantasy. This is a rule that mojang has set and after thinking about it a lot I really like this rule and respect it greatly.
