You recently introduced the new Block of Copper, that is capable of aging with time. It is an awesome idea! :D
- Make the aging speed configurable with a server-wide /gamerule
- Add more aging blocks!
This idea adds a whole new depth to Minecraft worlds. They always looked frozen in time, nostalgic for sure, but not aging.
Even if I love the idea of abandoned houses collapsing down to the ground i think that this concept should not be implemented in a destructive way, it should simply be an aesthetic feature.
There are many ways in which a building can age: grow vines, grow cobwebs, disappearing blocks, ... but a lot of players could see this feature as something very annoying.
I think the best way to implement this idea would be to:
- make it mainly aesthetic (just change some textures)
- make it configurable (let us chose the speed)
Also it would be nice to have it affect unloaded chunk areas, some way. Without lagging out the entire server-side with blocks that are constantly loaded!
