Minecraft pocket edition nether portal glitch?

I’m not sure if this is a glitch or if it’s intended, but I find no matter where I place a nether portal in the regular world, it always shows up in the same spot in the nether. This makes things frustrating, cause in my world every time I go through that portal, I immediately get killed by magma cubes. Could you please change this?
