Warlins

With the upcoming Wild Update, I think the inhabitants could be warlins. These creatures are like wardens but they have eyes, and built in night vision. They are half goblin and half warden like humanoids that are neutral. They would have the same health as a player. They will live in any cave biome and in underground villages. They will be armed with iron swords and with a 50% chance of getting a bow or crossbow for ranged ones. Like piglins, they will occasionally hunt wardens for food. Their natural enemies are spiders and any hostile undead mob. You will also be able to trade any stone or metal items (including copper) with them to get things like brushes, or telescopes. These would liven up the caves even more than ever before, and help layers gain access to tools that they may be out of reach for them. Plus, with the news that updated birch forests and fireflies aren't coming now, this would be a great opportunity to implement something like this.

    I don't think anything should be able to hunt the warden other than boss mobs and maybe the Iron Golem.

    True, if they have a bad hunting strategy. Their strategy is to sneak up to the Warden and then catch it by surprise. If this feature is applied, Warlins will be the first mob other than the player capable of sneaking.
