    The ability to make copper wires and stack them up as well as place them under water would be cool. Maybe even copper blocks as a resistor that redstone can go through but weaken the signal due to there being more metal. I actually think there is a lot we could do with copper and redstone if we think about it. Maybe even one new redstone devices.

    Water is not considered a very good conductor of electricity, but it is still a conductor. I think you need to do this: if there are two copper blocks in the water and one of them receives a redstone signal and there are 5 blocks of water or less between them, then the signal will go from one block to another, but with each block of water the signal decreases by 1. ( sorry for the mistakes, I'm Russian and that's why I used google translator)

    Copper conductive redstone signal is a very good idea. This will fit well into Minecraft, and it will make it so much easier to create some of the mechanisms ... Players will love this, so hear Mojang

    I have a slightly different idea for copper wire, which is not just a water resistant redstone. I have a few different mechanics for this yarn, which are listed below:

    1) waterproofing: it would be a very interesting point to do, a way to conduct electricity that is not interfered by water, I think it would be a great opportunity to implement this.

    2) isolated: go a little along with topic 1, make a redstone wire that does not energize the block that is supported, it seems to me a good practice. Well, despite being an option that would generate less effort for processors, as they are less blocks than the game would need to energize, this behavior is related to the idea of ​​being able to run a wire through the water, which should be an isolated wire, because I hope that no one receives shock damage when entering the water.

    3) a great conductor: as the wire is today, they are excellent conductors, so I would find it strange that they decrease their strength as they advance through the wire. My intention is that the signal strength that enters the copper wire remains the same throughout the wire path, without being reduced.

    What if copper that has an active redstone signal going through has a slower rate of oxidization, so you could slow down or stop copper from aging using redstone?

    Ok, upon some thinking and looking at other people's ideas this is what I got. Copper wires can transfer redstone signals just like redstone. However they cannot directly transfer signals to each other allowing for them to be side by side in contraptions without interacting with eachother.(similar to slime and honey) Instead if you wish for a copper wire to transfer a signal to redstone dust and vice versa you would need a new redstone device to do so. A copper outlet. This device would allow you to send a signal from a copper wire through one end and allow a redstone signal out the other and vice versa allowing for a switch between the 2. Additionally copper wires can stack up allowing for upward redstone. One other thing is to also have versions of contraptions that work for redstone that would work for copper such as a copper comparator or a copper repeater. These devices would specifically work for copper additionally they would be constructed to work with the copper wires being able to stack up on eachother and move down areas without being placed on top of other blocks by allowing attatchment from all sides of them. As for the underwater part, and possible differences between how they conduct or how far they conduct I will leave alone. That is all.

    It should look like a metalic line when placed on a block. Also one should be able to turn the announced copper ingot into several copper wires [dust].

    Or maybe copper could be crafted with redstone to form wiring that could transmit longer signals.

    To make it so it doesn’t replace redstone if you touch it you take damage and underwater it has a range that you take damage and you need power transfer to switch between redstone and copper.

    Maybe make it be craftable with 3 redstone and 6 copper nuggets with the redstone in the middle spots which would give you 3 wires. The signal should also be preserved with copper wire so it never goes lower. And eventually if it wasn't waxed, it would wear out.
    Or make insulated wires with 3 honeycomb 3 copper nuggets and 3 redstone for 3 insulated wires!
    By the way, I know I said copper nuggets... They should also be added.

    For this I would introduce copper wiring and sockets. The wire can transfer a redstone signal and can be placed like mine cart tracks. This will make it possible to run lines parallel to each other without  them interacting with each other. The sockets are needed to connect to a block, redstone line or redstone component, making sure you will not power other stuff then the intended block, line or component. As an added benefit it would be cool if this wire could be placed under water. on th conductivety part and making sure it will not be over powered i would keep the conductivity the same as redstone dust.
