When you are in a cave especially in the big open drip stone caverns, if you make too many vibrations ,e.g. breaking and placing blocks, running around a lot. These could fall and start a chain reaction and have a lot of drip stone fall making you having to be careful and not just being careless.
Also in the big open caverns there could be much bigger stalactites made of regular stone that could cause a lot damage and if you’re close it could stun you for a second giving time to another one to fall. The way it could work is a block called cracked stone is at the base of the stalactites and when it senses a lot of vibrations it breaks and of cracked stone around it breaks as well and what ever is attached under the cracked stone falls like sand and gravel but causes damage not just suffocation. In the caves with water and you’re on the boat, if the stalactites fall they create a wave and shake the boat and even breaking it leaving you vulnerable.
The cracked stone could also cover an entire ceiling and might cover up ores or reveal new ones. It would only be in certain places and you could tell because of particles.
It would add an extra bit of adventure as you’re trying to escape the falling rocks by manoeuvring your way around. Just a bit more risk to spice it up.
