When you are making your redstone suggestions, please note that Java and Bedrock will not have the exact same the same redstone systems - this would require redoing redstone system completely on one platform or the other. The two systems are functionally different and are going to stay that way. Please be sure to tag your suggestions with (Java) or (Bedrock).

But hoppers already move fast like taking 1 tick per movement

This is a great idea, it would give copper a reason to be mined in bulk (who needs that many telescopes or lightning rods?) and it rhymes. Plus there have been times when I wanted hoppers that were faster.

I think this is a good idea, but I think the crafting recipe should be the normal crafting recipe for a regular hopper, only replacing the iron ingots with copper ingots. Five copper ingots after already putting five iron ingots in for a regular hopper seems like too much. And how much faster would it go? Would every slot drain at once or maybe the regular speed would just be doubled or tripled?

Faster hoppers yes please at least 3 times faster.

I would prefer if copper hoppers just replaced normal hoppers, since it would lessen the load on iron. Iron is used in too much stuff right now.

Copper hoppers should drip items too when they are not connected to anything

    Should be slower

Or maybe faster but it should make sense why.

I think it should instead be able to organize unstackable items. Like you put the unstackable item you want to be organized in the hopper in a special slot and then that is the only item it can go through. It shouldent be able to do that on stackable items so it keeps hoppers useful.

I also believe this hopper should have an extra slot to sort items with. As a redstone user, it is what we need the most for item sorters.

Yes, and copper rails too. Currently, rails are way too expensive for what you get.

And maybe it can oxidise and the hoppers get slower. Or you can wax it. Great idea!

The copper hopper is a faster hopper than the normal hopper.

You can use hopper minecarts and water streams to get around speed limits of normal hoppers. An upgrade in speed should require a similiar amount of extra effort to achieve. If we implemented this, I would also want copper to be a much more rare resource to compensate. But that would make building with it a much bigger pain in the neck. I'd support a netherite ingot hopper. Though, with the extra effort it requires, I would just use a hopper minecart and water streams.

copper hoppers could have a different function like instead of stopping when powered it could speed up

Copper could be incredibly useful in item sorters if there were a copper hopper with those unique properties:

    • only one item slot instead of five
    • once an item is in, the amount never goes below 1 of that item unless the copperhopper gets powered
    • when powered, copperhopper empties itself all at once into the storage of the next block, or if not attached to a storage block acts as a dropper for the entire stack at once

This means instead of having to build a bulky contraption of 2 hoppers, a comparitor, a repeater, a redstone torch, redstone dust and support blocks for each item you want sorted you just need one copperhopper, which uses much less space and requires fewer block updates.
Additionally, repeatedly powered it could be used for more controlled item transportation by injecting entire stacks directly into a bubble column in unattached/dropper mode.

Maybe it could have 1 slot but the slot could filter 1 type of item. So if you place a grass block in as the filter it will only accept grass blocks.

I'd be tickled pink if it would be a vertical hopper, even if it was slower, that would make unique compared to the other and simplify builds.

What if it was pushable with pistons but with less slots?

Copper Hopper would only move items through if the connected chest already has that item. This would make automatic item sorters way better!

Copper hoppers should not be disabled by redstone so regular hoppers still have a use, and these can make more compact redstone.
