Better stalactites and stalagmites texture

    Something like a cobblestone fence on a cobblestone block would look sick!

    Although I agree, I don't know how you'd improve it... 3D stalactites are weird in the same way mods that give trees thin, square branches are weird. It messes with the uniform size of most natural blocks.

    You could design them similar to trees, with a full-block "trunk" ending in some sort of special point, but that may look equally strange...

    It's tricky!

    Totally agree. I think the base should be pretty much stone and then it'd fade to a brighter and more faded texture. That way they can be seen, and look more natural.

    I think it could look good to make them like cobblestonewalls
    the point would then in principle be one (or more) thinner cobblestonewall

    They decided to use the same technique that they used for grass to optimize the game, using a 3D model would mean more polygons and more lag, the current stalactites and stalagmites look very nice and they look very sharp, if they would have used 3D models, the stalactites and stalagmites wouldn't look as sharp and deadly as they look right now.
