A net would stop a player or mob for an amount of time depending on what mob they are. Nets would be activated by a trip wire or a pressure plate near to it or it would be activated by a redstone charge. This would make traps alot easier but not overpowered because a person could easily get out of it with an ax or sword but otherwise they would be stuck there, in the net forever!
