The cacti in Minecraft Dungeons does not damage you at all like in Minecraft. Cacti will damage you when you are standing or next to it. When you get off the cactus, you will get 5 seconds of an effect called "Needles" which will damage you every half-a-second. The damage from Needles should be less than being on the cactus.
