With the growing popularity of GeyserMC + Floodgate, many servers are now starting to allow Minecraft Bedrock users to join Minecraft Java Edition servers. There have been some recent questions come up as to whether this is software piracy or against the EULA, since Floodgate allows fully legitimate, authenticated Bedrock players to join Java servers without a Java account.
One side believes that since the Bedrock player owns Minecraft, or "the Game" in the EULA, that they have the freedom to join any Minecraft server, including modded Java servers that authenticate their Bedrock account and allow them on. And that servers running this mod are not in violation of the EULA.
The other side sees this as software piracy, since although the user owns Minecraft, they do not own Minecraft: Java Edition.
It would be nice to have an official statement from Mojang as to whether running this type of server-side mod is allowed. Either in a blog post or in the EULA itself. Currently, over 2000 servers are using this mod and the number is growing rapidly, doubling since June.
