When you are making your redstone suggestions, please note that Java and Bedrock will not have the exact same the same redstone systems - this would require redoing redstone system completely on one platform or the other. The two systems are functionally different and are going to stay that way. Please be sure to tag your suggestions with (Java) or (Bedrock).

Thermometers

Two pieces of glass, one piece of redstone.  The thermometer will tell you want the temperature is... one line shows you where ice will form (not sure if that's the same temp where snowmen will make snow), another will show you where snowmen will melt.  If you get near lava sources (within 3 blocks) the temperature will go up 2 grades.  Campfires will raise it 2 grades and furnaces/smelters/smokers will raise 1 (since they are enclosed).  Near water cools it 1 step.

You could probably work out more specific temperature indicators.  It would be good for avoiding lava underground and for spotting when your tunnel has gotten into a new biome.

If placed in the world it would also give off a redstone pulse based on how hot it is, possibly allowing for some interesting detection possibilities for lava/water devices.

    I had the same idea, especially since the new mountains update give more variation in temperate and warm climates.

    It should be where temperature underground aside from altitude spanning pockets of water, pockets of lava, and areas open to surface vary little except by depth and how much material is between one and the surface or in otherwords how deep one is and how much extra material from such things as mountains and hills there is between one and the surface.
