Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Energy powered furnaces

Coal is needed in excessive amounts in minecraft. To solve this issue, whilest addressing the issue of fossil fuels by raising awareness, implement some way of adding an energy source to furnaces. Some kind of solar panel that reacts to light sources in the game and smelts/cooks the same way with less resources. Maybe use iron, gold, red stone and another material to craft it, and place it on top of a furnace, similar to a pressure plate or carpet.

    I think a special furnace crafted with a comparator on top and redstone (blocks if it is a bit op) surrounding.  Should then use a new wire only coming from daylight sensor, I am imagining a metal string which is iron in a straight line down giving you 5 strings.

    They should add those "solar ovens" that you can make with tin foil in real life.  In Minecraft they could be crafted with iron, and would require no fuel but they only work in the daytime with access to light, and they're also faster at smelting than campfires.
