Netherite has been one of the coolest additions to the game in a long time. Netherite adds a new tier of tools and weapons to the game and are evocative of a civilization long forgotten. However, as I play Minecraft I feel like this mystical item is not as unique as its implementation implies. So, to fix this I have a few suggestions
The Nether Update gave a whole new aspect to the game, practically adding a whole new dimension. However, once you get THE endgame item the use of the smithing table feels like an afterthought. Which is why I believe that the crafting of Netherite tools and Armor should require something.
My proposal is to add a XP requirement in the smithing table, much like the enchanting table. Sure you could make everything cost 30 XP levels, but, it could be so much more interesting than that. Which is why I'm proposing a new type of experience: Nether Experience. Now, the implementation of Nether Experience could vary wildly, from XP Bottles from Bastion loot to XP drops from nether mobs in conjunction with regular XP. Sure it would be annoying at first but I feel like this addition would really make the player feel like they are gaining experience of the Nether, so much so they could recreate secret armor and tools that died along with the civilization long time ago. To add to its mystique smithing tables could spawn inside of bastions with bookshelves surrounding them to communicate that there is more to Netherite than one might think!
