During Combat Test 6, many people felt like shields required no skill and didn’t do very much, so I have a solution: Adding parrying to shields. My vision for parrying is that if you time activating your shield just right, you will take less/no damage and you will hear a sound indicating what you did. To prevent players from constantly spamming parries, there should be a cooldown for it. Parrying should also decrease durability more than simply blocking to compensate. If parrying is still too easy, it could be made to be an enchantment.
At the suggestion of someone in the comments, parrying should also push back players/mobs.
