A cool mechanic I think that would fit well in Minecraft is the introduction of dulled arrows and other projectiles. One way to produce dulled projectiles is by shooting an entity with them. In a combat scenario, being able to pick up arrows that slowly fall of the players body and become items again to be picked up later introduces recycled items into the game, which I think is pretty neat. The reason I think that these items should definitely be dulled and inflict less damage would be for reasons such as making infinite arrow farms, which is definitely too op. In terms of how much less damage they do, a 60% to 40% damage reduction seems reasonable to me.
