No offense to Minecraft Developers of 1.0.0, but the fight with the ender dragon is kind of a let down. I realize it's hard to do a climactic battle in a sandbox world that it constantly being updated and upgraded, but here a few of my suggestions to improve the ender dragon battle:
Currently, all the dragon does is fly in a circle, breath fire, and occasionally hover above the portal. Perhaps the ender dragon should be able to land, and use its fangs, claws, and large tail to defend itself. It could perch on the obsidian pillars to defend the crystals, or beat its wings to blow enemies away, and more actively try to win the battle.
I'm aware that the ender dragon can breathe a fireball, and spew acid. But it is too easy to avoid, and you'd think that a dragon would have more fire power than a flying, crying squid. I propose that the dragon's ranged projectiles should be more like those you commonly see in movies and video games i.e. a cone of purple flames that can burn you up. As for the acid spew, since it is supposed to be a fluid, perhaps it should act more like water or lava, that can pour and spread. I'm not saying that the ender dragon's current ranged attacks should be completely replaced, but I am saying that there is a lot of unused potential in the concept.
I hope to see improvements made to the ender dragon, and that players will find a harder, yet more satisfying and climactic end battle in the near future.
