- The idea is that a command block or a player could broadcast a string of text in the chat or invisibly (eg. Hello), and (if the text matches the requirement) a receiver block would identify who sent the text and output a Redstone signal. I imagine the block limited to use in creative mode, but a less powerful survival equivalent could exist. The block could be set to a limited range to make the use more precise for creative, and a lower range/radius of functionality might be suitable for survival use.
- If this idea were to be limited to creative the distinct block might be skipped for the sake of a command like /read or /receive, something like /testfor but involving text. Ideally, the broadcast of a message would trigger the block or command without having to have a command block constantly checking to see if any messages have been sent. The attraction of this idea is the potential to make chat messages part of gameplay.
- You could essentially send a message directly to a command block and have the command block respond, maybe summoning a fireball directly in front of the player if they type “fireball”. This would make the implementation of a magic system in an adventure map interesting. With command blocks a survival player could be given limited access to chat commands. Or, if this were implemented in survival a player could make a voice activated door. I could imagine the block being potentially magic themed to avoid breaking with redstone’s primitive tech aesthetic.
