I'm genuinely wondering why underwater redstone is needed. Wouldn't building around the redstone be just as effective.

If you are building an underwater Redstone contraption and you don't want blocks around the outside making it look bad you could just use the new type of Redstone I suggested and you would use less blocks and it would still look how it was supposed to and the extra blocks wouldn't get in the way of the other Redstone and blocks.

Wouldn't it be much easier to just build an air pocket wherever you need it, otherwise you'll be making constant trips to the surface, or using up lots of water breathing potions.

Doing that solves not only keeping redstone dry, but also solving the air supply problem.

And, I'm sure everybody has spare dirt to build a simple air bubble.

If you are building in shallow water and you don’t want to change how the areal looks you couldn’t use the dust and the area would still look mostly the same.

In that case, a player could build beneath the floor of the ocean/lake.

But what if whatever the player was building had to be in the water and not underneath it.

I’m in bedrock Minecraft and it won’t let me place Redstone underwater.
