Channeling on a Trident is a very niche enchantment, it only works in the Overworld, while a Thunderstorm is happening. This is great, but the inconsistency of Thunderstorms is a big problem, and having to rely on the terrible RNG of a Thunderstorm occurrence, it makes the enchantment less useful to have.
I am suggesting that the Channeling enchantment on a trident should always summon lightning in the End. This would be useful in multiple scenarios, such as:
- Significantly reducing the RNG required to finish the advancement Very Very Frightening (a huge bottleneck in AAdv speedrunning),
- Allowing players to fight the Ender Dragon with Lightning,
- Allowing players to create PVP arenas in the End, allowing them to utilize Channeling in their kit consistently,
This change would not be "overpowered" and create Lightning Bolts extremely often, as Endermen will teleport away if a Trident is thrown at them, and Shulkers will not be hit by lightning often as the usually spawn inside End Cities or within the upper lip of the rooms in the End Cities.
As previously mentioned reducing the RNG it takes to finish the advancement Very Very Frightening, was the main reason that I felt inclined to share this suggestion. The fact that a speedrun already taking over 24 hours can be made 50% longer because of waiting for a Thunderstorm is heartbreaking. Giving the Channeling Trident another place to be more useful is, in my eyes, what it needs to appear more attractive to all players and less niche.
