/setblock nether_portal

Today in minecraft is possible to use the command /setblock to place and make customed ender portals. so... why I can't use this command to place a nether portal block? I think it will be a really good feature for customed map creators.

    there already is one in the game ethier by cloneing the block or /give @s portal
