The Miner's Book would be a set of maps that work underground.
The book would be crafted with a book and an empty map placed in the top and bottom input slots of a cartography table, and would initially only allow for a contour map of the surface to be displayed.
Crafting the Miner's Book with additional empty maps would add pages that show the contour maps of lower Y values
Crafting the book with coal, iron, gold, lapis, or diamond would allow the map to add the colors of those resources to the contour maps where they appear
As the player explores the area and Y level that a contour map covers, the contour map would fill in in light grey any places where the player's line of sight in a two-block high circle with a radius of eight blocks had reached, and filling in with dark grey anywhere the line of sight had been obstructed. If the player's line of sight was obstructed by the ore of a resource the book had been crafted with, the map would fill in that place with the appropriate color.
The Miner's Book could be held in the player's main hand or offhand like a map, but if the player right-clicked while holding the book in their main hand, the book would open and the player could flip through the contour maps like pages in a written book item. When changing elevation and holding the Miner's Book, the pages will flip to show the player the contour map that matches their Y value. The item would be useable in a lectern just like a written book.
