Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

I came on here to post about what just that.

IMHO: Mending should stay as one book, but it should be much rarer than it is now. Someone mentioned to me that mending should be found in the upcoming cavecities, or traded in the new cavecities.

Another go at it is to place them in The End with new structures?

I started a new save when 1.18 came out and my friend had 10 trading villagers before even getting diamond tools. Too overpowered.

"The objective in this is stopping from players to rely on Mending to repair their items and using other methods"

What other methods? You know that repairing in an anvil only works a limited amount of times.

After reading this and you Reddit post it looks like you a just salty because your friend knows how to use end game mechanics.

I agree, mending is far too good for how easy and early you can get it.

I think its important that we acknowledge that we don't need tools to be unbreakable. The most expensive tool is 3 diamonds and that can be gotten with literally one diamond ore mined with a fortune 3 pickaxe. Villagers make enchanting easier than mining cobble so there is no real challenge to making new enchanted tools when one breaks.

About mending having levels suggestion. I think levels don't fix the issue, I believe we need to change how a player obtains mending completely. Also even if it has an extremely low chance of being traded the chance is still there so the player can still just break and place the lectern until they get Mending III.

Someone suggested putting them exclusively in the end as loot. I think this is a decent idea since it makes it true end game loot and requires players to defeat the end dragon before they get such a overpowered enchant. Though this idea doesn't solve the issue of everything having mending at the post-endgame.

My idea would be to make a boss drop it. That way players have to defeat the boss for every piece of gear they want mending on. This still lets players who really want mending to get it on everything but others might choose to live without it since making new equipment is easy enough.

I think if we implement either of the ideas the issue of mending being obtained too early would be solved but other issues would still exist. I'm out of characters :(
