When you are making your redstone suggestions, please note that Java and Bedrock will not have the exact same the same redstone systems - this would require redoing redstone system completely on one platform or the other. The two systems are functionally different and are going to stay that way. Please be sure to tag your suggestions with (Java) or (Bedrock).

no it's an integral part of the system that allows for far more complex set ups

If you don’t want quasi-connectivity, you should get bedrock Edition since it doesn’t have quasi-connectivity.

making it optional (as a toggleable gamerule) would make more sense. Also introducing this to Bedrock.

100% agree, regular pistons and sticky pistons should be freed from this weirdness, but i propose having some other way to access it, like by renaming pistons in an anvil.

    1. Learn about quasi connectivity. There is not a SINGLE thing that is possible without QC and impossible with it.

    2. Get a mod that removes quasi connectivity, or make your own mod to do this.

    3. Play Bedrock edition.

You talk extremely casually about breaking hundreds (actually thousands if not millions) of contraptions. Just because they are all fixable doesn't mean that it doesn't matter. Redstone also shouldn't just be about redesigning, but designing things for the first time. If you are having trouble with quasi connectivity, there are plenty of resources that you can use to find your problem, and find your solution.

Why are people defending this? Quasi connectivity is a bug that only exists because pistons use the same code as doors for power detection, and the people who possess a level of redstone skill sufficient to even understand how this works are capable of finding different ways to do things. For the vast majority of players with a lower or medium level of restone savy, it just winds up breaking simple machines that feel like they ought to work, and makes what should be an intuitive system prohibitively confusing. Leaving in game breaking bugs purely because we've had to deal with them for ages isn't, IMHO, a great defense.

I have literally never encountered a situation where quasi-connectivity was helpful, but rather have had to deal with this annoyance every time I want to build something with any level of complexity. At the very least, this should be a configurable gamerule.

NO!!!!!!!!!! Redstoners can NOT find a way to do redstone without quasi-connectivity! I should know, I am one!

In fact, this is one of my bedrock accounts, so I know for sure how bad life is without QC!

Totally agree. Pretty much everything in minecraft can be intuited by simply playing the game and using the different features, with the exception of quasi-connectivity. I don't see why we're beholden to a bug caused by a copy-paste coding error just because a fraction of a fraction of the player base decided they like it. Even understanding how QC works it is still something that needs to be worked around even for some basic contraptions. I think it's pretty clear if QC was introduced today Mojang would have no issues patching it right away. If QC is something that is desirable then it should be done intentionally rather keeping a clear bug in the game. Maybe by crafting variants of the current blocks.
