Increased Mining speed when dual wielding

Lets say you have just created a new world, wanting to make an area flat you decide to use your shovel to make it quicker, but it's still not quite enough, you're unbothered by enemies and want to mine faster. So you choose to create two stone shovels as an early game tool, one in the offhand another in mainhand. You feel that using both hands to dig is so much faster, increasing your mining speed. You find that this could be useful for other things than mining dirt, for example when beginning to mine.
