Helyite ore is an ore functioning similar to netherite, and is intended as a counterpart/alternate option. It is used similarly, in that you use one ingot to upgrade a piece of diamond equipment. While netherite is strong and fire resistant, helyite is lightweight, and allows for good mobility, with the idea being you can choose to upgrade to either netherite or helyite equipment.
Helyite armour would give a slight speed boost, similar to how netherite gives knockback resistance. As it's not quite as strong as netherite, it's durability boost over diamond isn't as large. A piece can be used on an eleytra, which not only increases its durability slightly, but also gives a little bit of armour, though not nearly as much as a full chestplate gives, as that would be unbalanced and somewhat OP. On tools, it would only have the attack damage of diamond, however it would have a slightly greater attack speed/efficiency.
The name is based on Helios, the god of the sun, as well as helium, which is lighter than air. At the moment I'm not sure where the initial ore would be found, though it would likely be in places that are high up in some way. I think this branching path in terms of armour and equipment would be a good addition for lategame minecraft, offering choice to players in terms of how they choose to equip themselves.
I also think this would add functionality to the smithing table beyond just netherite, which is something it needs
