Console Crafting Degradation

I am not sure what happened with the recent 1.16 Nether update, but I play on Xbox and have a big problem with new crafting system. Say I want to make torches, the game now physically moves the ingredients (coal & sticks) from my inventory and into the crafting box. The issue I have is that when I am done crafting, the ingredients never go back to where they originally were placed in my inventory. It has made inventory-management and general sorting extremely annoying and time-consuming now. With old updates, my ingredients would always return to the slot that they originally were placed in. Can this please be changed back or improved in some way please? Thank you!

    you tend to have to manage your inventory with a chest, they are trying to standardize it with the pc players as i think thats the main audience

    Yeah pc has the same problem.you dont recieve items back in your inv and th crafting is so different
