Currently chainmail is the least useful armor in the game, not only is it relatively difficult to acquire, but it has no stand-out features to make up for it's lack of protective qualities, like leather and gold armor does. Invisibility potions are similar, they have some use, but ultimately leave the player too vulnerable to attack (especially in PvP situations). Both of these issues can be remedied by having chainmail armor also turn invisible if the player becomes invisible. Thusly chainmail becomes useful and invisibility potions become more widely versatile, without becoming OP.
This would not be OP because an invisible entity on fire can still be seen (fire aspect swords), the invisible player will still make sounds, and the player cannot hold a weapon without revealing their location. If this is still determined to be OP then further steps could be taken, such as having chainmail make much more noise when moving, having Enchanted chainmail not turn invisible(preventing the player from making use of protection or thorns), and/or by implementing a unique rendering where the chainmail does not go completely invisible but rather become transparent (like the eyes of an invisible spider) and fluctuates smoothly and randomly between 15% and 0% opacity.
All in all, I believe both chainmail and invisibility potions need a rework, and combining the two seems a great way to do it.
