Now hear me out. Minecraft has started putting out major updates on the regular. But oftentimes old worlds dont have access to certain changes like new biomes.
My current survival world (with achievements still enabled) doesnt have any beehives.
This current world is the one I had to create to find bamboo forests.
It's not the first time I've had to start all over to get access to the new content.
My proposal: an option to start a new world but keep your inventory and equipment from an old world.
(Allow multiple tries to find the right world. Its random and random isnt always good)
As long as the old world never had cheats enabled you should also be able to earn achievements in this new world.
That way you could keep your favorite items you worked so hard to get even when theres a major new update.
You can also experience the excitement of a brand new world, but get to keep some of the time you invested in outfitting your character.
With shelker boxes you could carry almost everything you've worked so hard to collect. But now you have a new land to explore while being able to actually find those new biomes from each new update.
I truly believe it would breath whole new life into minecraft for many people. If they are like me, updates are both exciting and frustrating. I hate starting over my survival game. I hate losing my hard earned items. But I have no choice if I want to explore the new lands and experience everything minecraft has to offer.
