So obviously crossbows need another enchantment- compared to a power IV or V bow they’re kinda obsolete because of the sheer damage dealt by the bow, even with quick charge. Lots of people have said just add power to the crossbow- I don’t want that firstly because it would make the crossbow far too damaging at close range, and anyway the crossbow is a unique weapon with unique enchants (aside from the inevitable unbreaking/mending). So I propose the powercharging enchant (name obviously needs some work but I can’t come up with anything better) which means that the longer an arrow shot by a crossbow is in the air for, the more damage it does. So the enchant, I think, would have 5 levels. Obviously level 5 would gain extra damage faster than level 1, but there should also be a cap on the damage gained for each level. So, for instance, the damage cap on powercharging I is the same as the extra damage added by power I on a bow, and same goes for level II, III, IV, and V. I think that level one powercharging should go through three states- increasing the damage by 10%, 18% and finally 25% (the damage buff on power I). Powercharging II would go through these states, but then to 33%, 42% and then 50% (damage buff on power II. And obviously higher levels of powercharging increase damage quicker. I think this would be a good idea, as it stops crossbows being too op close range, and makes a damage buff that isn’t as good as power but still decent. Mutually exclusive with multishot.
