I suggested this under Architect Villager but I thought that this title described what I was suggesting a little better as it's more of an expansion to the Villager/Pillager update. I thought it would be cool if we put the Merchant Villager to good use. What if the Merchant sold a block called a Draft Table for some outrageous price, like 100-1000 emeralds. When you purchase a Draft Table it can be placed in a village to give a villager a new job called Architect. The Architect will build a fence around your town to protect it from Pillagers and upgrade the Villager houses for a cost. Say you can purchase a wall of varying extravagance for 500-1000 emeralds. A cheaper wall would only be two blocks high or something where as the more extravagant 1000 emerald wall would be a full on castle wall that you could walk into.
You could also set the Draft Table down in a Pillager Tower and leave it there until a Captain spawns who would then take on the job of Architect of Evil and stand there waiting for you to click on him. give you the option of becoming a Pillager Commander (letting you take command of and upgrade captured Pillager Towers) or fighting him for a reward. I was thinking maybe a temporary perk that activates a mega raid the next time you enter a village (give you a reason to upgrade your village) where the Architect returns riding the formerly abandoned Red Dragon and he sends an Army of Golden Golems to tear your town up.
