Seamless Dimensions

There should be a “softened bedrock” mixed in with the bedrock layer that has similar durability as obsidian, and you can go through it into the nether below. and if you pillar up to y=712 or something like that, you will reach the end. With this, the build limit could become 1024 and the void could be -128, or you could do cubic chunks that load in a sphere around you to give you infinite height, and maybe more dimensions that could be added above below and in between the existing ones in the future.

    I would love that but the issue is that it would completely break nether fast-travel. Even if we didn’t have breakable bedrock and kept the fast-travel I would love to just know that the nether was underneath my feet and it would be good for building but the cons of having to render double the number of blocks for an area you aren’t really ever going to see, they far outweigh the pros of it “making sense.”
