When pressing the space bar, your character rolls, or "dodges" an attack. This can be useful in a few situations, but it needs improvements.
Firstly, dodging should give you iframes. If you are new(er) to RPG gaming, "iframes" is a term used to describe "invincibility frames." During these frames, your character is immune to all damage. As of current, dodging does not make you invincible. This can result in attempting to dodge an attack, but still taking damage regardless of dodging. Due to this lack of iframes, dodging can seem nearly pointless, especially in boss fights. During the frames in which your character rolls to dodge an attack, they should be invincible. Note this still cannot be abused due to the dodging cool down. Adding iframes to dodging would make the game more fun to both new and experienced players, granting them a better method to avoiding damage in combat.
Secondly, dodging should allow you to roll through enemies. As a player of many RPGs and dungeon crawlers, when dodging is involved, it should always allow you to roll through, or "past" enemies. As of current, dodging makes you run into enemies rather than through them. This can be annoying, especially when maneuvering around a boss (redstone monstrosity for example) or mini-boss. Rolling through enemies would improve dodging on various levels, and again make the game more fun for players.
Lastly, dodging uphill should make you roll up the hill, rather than running into the ground.
