    Yep, we currently can; but with the addition of dynamic dimensions it's impossible to discern the dimension a player has their spawnpoint in. At best you can hardcode a few "known" dimensions, but if their spawnpoint is in a custom dimension datapack makers are out of luck without killing the player, thus increasing the player's deathcount (which is not wanted in this case, player shouldn't have to have a death increase for moving back to spawnpoint).

    This is a very good idea! Would make it handy to teleport people away from the end, because now you have to specify a point to teleport to!

    This would be very useful, although I personally think it makes more sense to add functionality to the spawnpoint command instead of adding an entirely new command. I.e. the syntax of 

    spawnpoint <targets> <position>

    would be changed to

    spawnpoint set <targets> <position>

    and you could also do

    spawnpoint teleport <targets>

    for the functionality you described.
