This could be done through a payment of Gems at a certain place to disenchant a piece of equipment, leaving the base item, returning enchantment points and removing emeralds

There is a way for you to test new items without salvaging the old one, and here's how to do it.

    1. First equip all the items you want to test, don't do anyting about the old ones, just leave them in your inventory
    2. Log out to character selection
    3. Clone your character
    4. This clone will inherit all the equipped items, but nothing in inventory
    5. All enchanting points assigned to items that were on items in the inventory of the original character will be refunded for the clone
    6. Enchant the items on the cloned character and test them
    7. Decide what to do before logging back to the original character

Agreed zeus 407.  It's pretty common in games to pay in-game currency in order to respec things.

I think they could make enchantment points a max when equipped too. So like, if I am level 50 and have 50 points, that means I can only equip gear with a max of 50 total. That way, I can carry different gear and swap them when I want.. I like having a collection of nice uniques and want to be able to use them when I feel like. It wouldn't create any balancing issues, and the game is more fun when you can switch your playstyle for a while without losing the old one.

You know an easy way to do it is to add the grindstone to minecraft dungeons.

Guys, you do understand they left all of these features out, intentionally, and will not be added into the game.

I think part of the problem here is that it's very hard to compare loot. Everything should be provided in terms of DPS so that I know exactly how much damage I can do.

David Wilder Your probably right, but we can still try and convince them to add it. If the idea became popular enough and have some good way to be added to the game, then I don't see why wouldn't they add it.

I understand that being able to switch enchantments points would be a little bit OP, but we can add limits to it by making it that you need to pay emeralds to disenchant the items, which will make emeralds more useful.
It would also make it more fun to play and much easier to try different tactics. Right now, not having the ability to disenchant items is limiting us and making it harder for us to try different things.

Though, I appreciate that we can clone our character which makes it possible to try a lot of things. But I wouldn't make it an excuse to not add a way to disenchant items. Note that I don't recommend cloning your character right now with all the bugs.

Or at the very least, the ability in the camp to do test enchantments to determine if what you want will work before spending points on it.

I want to use different gear and/or different enchants when I'm playing solo vs in a group, without having to mess with cloning back and forth. I'm also afraid that I'm going to get bored if I can't change up my play style whenever I want.

Your suggestion would be the simplest fix.  All of your points are right on target.  I'd add that, on top of the set back when a new piece of gear doesn't live up the promise, there can definitely be some emotional distress at the situation that may put you off playing for a while.  Game designers should go out of their way to avoid eliciting that type of emotion from their players. (unless its a souls type game I suppose, then double down on the soul-crushing weariness...)

The combat dummies are not nearly enough of a tool to evaluate equipment, particularly without the items being enchanted while testing.  I'll create a separate post with a suggestion for more robust combat dummy functionality.

Fully agree. The current enchantment system discourages experimenting with different gears and enchantments. As a result, I haven't tried many of the different enchantments at all. The clone feature is questionable and extremely bothersome just to try out different gear and build. Any progress made on the clone and not your main character will be deleted anyway.

Grindstone in camp or wathever to remove enchantments, cost in emerald. Loot based enchantments so players can makes builds. Adding an enchanter to camp, cost in emerald to put on gears. Gears levels tells how many enchantments you can put on. More emeralds drop.

I think a re roll enchant would be really cool as well, in normal Minecraft I just enchant at table then disenchant at grindstone and it changes enchants, but maybe in dungeons the blacksmith has another option to re roll enchantments on an item.

With the addition of new merchants, players can now give items to the blacksmith, who will remove all of the enchantment points, then return the item to you after three completed levels.

I like this idea but I think that it should cost some emeralds to disenchant and you hire a villager to disenchant for you

You can already do this with the Blacksmith Villager Shop when you upgrade your items.

all you have to do to get rid of enchants is give it to the blacksmith.

Maybe this could be done through the blacksmith- they add a new tab: the Grindstone. It would allow you to pay a small price to get the enchantments off of your items, and return the points

I collect uniques, so having this feature would be a LIVESAVER. The amount of times I've had to spend an UNGODLY amount of emeralds to upgrade something JUST for the enchantment points, is unbearable.
