Scaffolding can be very frustrating to use.
- It can only be placed on solid blocks
- is hard to use in the air or on bigger builds (there are ways to get around the length limit using sand for example but this requires more inventory space and complicates the thing that was supposed to simplify building)
- drops and breaks on many blocks and plants
- the extra pillars that are required forces the player to have more scaffolding in their inventory.
the length limit is needed to have the quick remove effect.
Depending on the build many players prefer dirt because it can be placed anywhere, is easily obtained, placed and removed.
downsides to dirt:
- you need to build another pillar every time you go up
- Removing it requires a shovel making it cost durability and complicating inventory management
- blocks visibility.
We can combine the advantages of dirt and scaffolding by simply removing the gravity of it, which also removes the length limit, making a block that:
- can be instantly broken without tools
- can be placed on any block
- it doesn't block the view as much
- requires less inventory without the extra pillars
- easy to place as it keeps the handy placing behavior as before
- extremely simple to use
- allow travelling through pillars
The only downside is that you don't get the satisfaction of watching it fall by breaking a few pillars, but that is absolutely worth it to me. Removing a scaffolding like that manually is barely considered work.
